I am running an Ultra 60 box on 2.5.1 and am attempting to load the OS via cdrom. I get the Sun Solaris 5.5.1 banner and the / icon then message speeds across the screen and the box resets. I saw the word 'panic' in the message but it is moving so fast I have no means to capture the full content of the message. Does anyone have any ideas????? I have attempted to setenv auto-boot? false and it still resets itself.

You could try connecting a serial console or null-modem cable connected to a PC running HyperTerminal or something; that way you could capture the output.

Strange that setting auto-boot? to false doesn't work; is the value 'taking'... i.e. if you do a printenv does it still say 'false'? Annihilannic.

Yes the auto-boot? false is 'taking'. I thought that was pretty strange also.

an idea:
define a wrong boot device, it will no more
auto-reboot. -----------

Ahh, It's always the obvious that is so obscure...
Turns out to be a bad PCI slot on thge motherboard causing a problem with the SCSI controller card. I moved slots Boot -r and voila everything is working as advertised. Thanks for all the help!!!
