Attachment E-mailed opens in wrong format

I have one client I upgraded to Office 2003. He's the only one in the office with 2003 everyone else has 2002. The problem we're running into is when someone sends him a Word attachment it opens it in a double-page view. This view is not available in Word 2002, only 2003. Even when he changes the view to normal or page layout the documents still don't display correctly.

If we save the document on the network drive, it opens normally in Word for him.

Interestingly enough when he logs on remotely (also with 2003) and opens the attachment, it opens normally.

Any ideas as to why this would be happening?

Have the user using Office 2003 open word.

Click on Tools
Click on Options

Under the general tab the top right check box
"Allow starting in Reading Layout"
Uncheck it

Now it will not happen again.

(When we upgraded 2003 it was the biggest annoyance that personal had, shame it such an easy fix)

When frustrated remember, in the computer world there is almost always a backdoor.
