There are probably more pure, elegant ways, but after much trial and error with lots of problems with pictures that were very messed up, I (a) Copy entire drawing from Visio, (2) go into word and paste the drawing there (watch your margins and page orientation, (3) Insert picutures in word and place them wherever you want on the drawing. Then save them as a Word document. The pictures are much better, and you can put as many on it as you want, and it is very easy to update in the future. I know its kludgey, but if it looks great and the client loves it -- you win.
