ATI Radeon 9200 and DirectX 9 1

Does the ATI Radeon 9200 really not have support for DirectX 9? I'm trying to find a site on google that tells me otherwise...but all of them i find are from months ago and say 'DirectX 8.1 support', not 9. I have the "ATI RADEON 9200 128MB 8XAGP DDR W/TV&DVI (OEM - POWERED BY ATI)". Are there any bios updates, etc. that I can do (3rd party perhapes?) to make this possible, or was I just stupid when purchasing this card...

What it means is that the hardware does not support all of the features that Directx 9 can possibly give you e.g. it was made before they were invented/implemented. You can still use directx 9 but you just won't have access to all the features simply because your card can't do it! Don't forget the 9200 is an old card under a new number...just like my 9100vivo is an 8500.

yes, i know that. I just was curious if there is any kind of update that will allow me to use the directx 9 features on my 9200 card.

No, as a matter of fact there are very few cards that can. Probably just the Nvidia FX and the Radeon 9800 and above. Don't sweat it, you can still run the games they just will be a little less spectacular.
While you are running for your virtual life do you really notice how your reflection is on the puddles as you run by?

hahaha...yes yes. But i mean, if it could be done with a simple video card bios flash, i sure would like to check out myself in the reflecion of puddles every now and then. It gets tough to make sure i'm looking smooth for the ladies when I cant see myself =) It's no big deal really...I'm just very picky and if my hardware is able to perform better, I like to make sure it does.

I know what you mean, but they have to make new chips that can do what DirectX 9 can ask of it.
They just don't have the capabilites, and I am not talking speed, the "engine" cannot process the software request.

I downloaded some new drivers for my old ATI Radeon VE 7000 and the drivers reqired DX9 to be installed first. The video card probably cant really use all the functions of DX9, but for some reason it had to have DX9 to work with the new drivers. Many new programs require DX9 so they can work like MS Media Player 9.
