I recently upgraded my RAM from 512 MB to a gig. It is DDR 2100 running at 266 Mhz on a Shuttle AK32 mobo with Athlon XP 1800+ . Until I upgraded the RAM the Radeon card worked fine except with C&C Renegade (which ATI provided a patch for!) But once I installed the RAM and played FIFA 2002, boom the display got corrupt midway thru the game. After updating the BIOS from Shuttle's website XP starts up and freezes after 5 minutes.
ATI's website has a plethora of drivers which really don't work. ATI says that systems with RAM greater than 512 meg have this problem, and provides a driver patch for it. But even after installing the patch the same problem occurs with XP freezing after 5 minutes.
Help!

Yup tested the RAM on the server and it worked fine. So it was a problem with the driver ATI provided. It caused a serious error everytime Windows started because it went into an infinite loop (bad programming?) So I decided to do away with the Radeon card and put in a Nvidia GeForce-440 SE. It worked like a dream, and really there's very little performance difference between the ATI and Nvidia.
If you see CNet's hardware reviews a couple of users have complained about the same problem with the Radeon 7500.
ATI has a lot of catching up to do with Nvidia esp. in driver programming, because even though you might have a great piece of h/w what's the use if it screws up your system everytime.
