UI have an ATA2 Terminal adapter but i am unable to connect this to my Nortel system how can i connect this with system and how can i program this to access fax machine please help me out

The ATA connects to the Norstar system as any other Norstar set would: you plug it in the wall outlet. Of course, the wall outlet must already be wired to the KSU. Then, you plug the fax machine to the ATA.

The Norstar system will recognize that the device attached is an ATA. Very few programming is needed: you might only need to give access to lines or line pools.

yes i have connect ATA with the wall socket and one with the fax machine but the fax machine is not responding i.e no dial tone in the fax machine may b i am unable to program the system...............

1. Unplug the ATA from the wall jack and plug a Norstar phone into the wall jack. If the Norstar phone works (the display shows the date and time after a few seconds), the wiring to the KSU is fine. Otherwise, there is a problem with the wiring.

2. Unplug the Norstar phone from the wall jack and plug the ATA to the wall jack, as it was initially.

3. Unplug the fax machine from the ATA and plug an analog phone to the ATA. If you hear dial tone with the analog phone, the ATA is working fine. Otherwise, the ATA is faulty.

4. Unplug the analog phone from the ATA and plug the fax machine to the ATA, as it was initially.

The ATA also comes with a power supply. It is plugged in an electrical outlet, right?

We'll get to programming once the ATA will be working. It will be the case when the fax machine goes off-hook and gets system dial tone.

In the meantime, you may want to explain your needs:

[ol 1]
[li]Does the fax machine needs to answer calls?
Is so, on which lines?[/li]

[li]Does the fax machine needs to make calls?
Is so, on which lines?[/li]

[li]Are these lines also used by other users?
If so, how users make calls? Do they press a line button? Do they press an Intercom button and dial a line pool access code?[/li]
