ATA2 and 3x8?

Hello all. I have a 3x8 I'm deploying as our house phone system. I'd like to hook up a fax, so I picked up a used ATA2 adapter.

First of all, is this combination possible? I tried to hook up the ATA2 to an extension on the 3x8, but received no dial tone on the analog phone I plugged into it.

If it is feasible to have this work, is there some sort of configuration I need to change for the extension in order for the ATA2 to work?

If the ATA2 won't work at all on the Norstar 3x8, I have one I'll let go cheap.

As long as the ATA is punched pown properly and has power it will work. I use a cordless with an ATA on my 3x8 at home. What software version do you have? Maybe ATA's are only compatible with DR5/5.1

I'm running DR5.1. Is it supposed to provide dial tone right off the bat without any special configuration of the port it's attached to?

All ATAs are compataboe with all DR releases.

In configurationGive the ATA 2 intercoms, prime to Pool A
In Administration under set abalities Hotline it to EXT, press Show , enter Feature 78....this will insert a pause to allow for dial tone.
