Hello,

I currently have an ATA 186 installed and only using port 1 (port 2 is defective). Port 1 is failing also now. I have a new ATA that I want to install. How do I associate the directory number associated with the current ATA to the new ATA once I connect it to the network?

Thanks.

Do I remove the dn in question from the current ATA then add to the new ATA?

If you want to replace the old ATA-186 by a new one, you could just change the MAC-address / Device Name, assuming that this new one isn't already known. If so, disconnect it from the network, remove it from the Communications Manager, and change the old MAC-address with the new MAC-address and connect it again to the network.

Hope this helps?
Eric

too much work, just unplug it, add the new and the same number, plug new in.

Hope this helps.

Before removing the old ata. Dissociate the directory number from the old ata. This is done at the directory number.

(i had some bad experience not doing this.)

thanks everyone. I disassociated the dn from the old device and added it to the new device. this worked like a charm.
