We'll be upgrading our circuits from ATM (T1s) to AT&T VPN (AVPN) 10Mb Ethernet circuits. Does anyone have experience configuring the CE router to work with AVPN ethernet circuits? It's somewhat a new thing to me. The third site will be using bonded T1s because ethernet is not available in that location. My questions are:

1. How does the configuration look like on the CE router (i.e. Fa0/1) connecting to the AT&T provided switch ethernet port? We're using BGP as a routing protocol, but my main question is - is there any encapsulation configuration on the Fa0/1 port? Or is it just assign an IP and that's it?

2. Would the third site just a ppp multilink bonded T1s and would there be any trouble communicating with the other two sites with AVPN ethernet circuits?

Appreciate any inputs.

I've got the same deal coming up soon, only with a 50 Mb circuit. I've configured PNT MPLS but not ethernet. Have you come across any pertinent info since your original post?

Just an interface with an ip address and whatever routing protocols you are using across it . It's just a rj45 interface dropoff.

Question 1: You will connect to a swithport and use a WAN ip address given to you by your provider, Given this has a internet connection and not a point to point solution.

Question 2:Is this a mpls type service? Some how the two bounded T1's need to interconnect. If so you will obtain ip's to insert and route too....

No t1 here jeter, straight ethernet drop off, it is the exact same as configuring a lan interface. Add ip, access list, rp, etc.

Just like an OptE-MAN
