AT&T Takeback and Transfer (TNT) 1

We are looking to implement AT&T Takeback and Transfer. We are being told by AT&T that we will need to out pulse a call with *t proceeding a toll free #?? The 'Inserted Digits' portion of the route will not allow a '*t'. My service with AT&T is ISDN-PRI.

I've got a G3R 9.5. If you are using AT&T's TNT on a Definity, please let me know how you handle those calls.

You can implement this one of two ways... You can purchase from Avaya Network Call Redirection. This will allow you to use the ~r command in vectors. Basically what has to happen is that you have to be on the call that you want to transfer. When do a route-to command, it picks up another trunk, so that wont work. The Network Call Redirection will work.

The 2nd cheaper option it to use an announcement. What you have to do is record the announcement with the touchtones and include the *T (*8). So if you wanted to transfer the call to 18005551212 you would record touchtones of *818005551212. Right after the announcement is played, the network drops the call to the PBX and sends it on its way. The PBX thinks the caller hung up....

Thanks for the info. We actually successfully tested the service on Tuesday of this week. Because we are using AT&T in-band service the only option we had was to perform this with an annoucement, and it worked wonderfully.

Here is a wonderful reference for anyone else who is looking to use this service.


I was also fortunate enough to speak with someone deep in the bowels of Avaya who was familiar with the switch side configuration.

For those of you who are planning to use this service with in-band signaling, I can tell you that the customer will only hear the first 2 or 3 digits of the announcement. Once the carrier hears the *8 portion of the call it siezes the call at the network level and blocks the rest of the digits from being heard.

How do you actually record the DTMF tones into the announcement? It seems that the announcement recording routine is going to intercept the tones?
 
I would use a second phone set and record the DTMF tones via speaker phone.

The announcement recording module doesn't act on the tones it hears from the 2nd phone?
 
The easiest way to record touchtones in an announcement is to do it through your remote access barrier. You can use a 2nd phone as SF0751 states above, but that is more work & it might sound dim to the network...

This is how I do it. I make a local call to my remote access number, I enter my barrier code, I enter the FAC to record, I enter the announcement, (I think its 1 to record the announcement), after I hit 1, I wait 1 second and enter *88005551212 then hit my drop button right away...

Important... keep your phone muted! This way it does not pick up any backgroud noise or the sound of the drop key... Wait a couple of seconds for the switch to update the announcement. Then dial the extension of the announcement to see how it sounds. When using Transfer/Connect (AKA. PACR), you do not have to use the 1 in front of the area code, you can just use 10 digits if you like.
