Hi! We have an older AT&T Merlin phone system, I believe an 820, at our office. There are two incoming lines and we have seven phones connected. All features of the system worked very well until we did an office move. The system was set up exactly as it was in the old office, but we are not getting a dial tone on any of the phones. On each of the phones, the red light that indicates an open line is not lighting up. The phones are getting power, as you can move the program switch and they completely light up. I also plugged a regular phone into the auxiliary jack and get a dial tone and can call in and out.

Any assistance would be appreciated in helping some non-techies out!

Thanks much!

Take a phone to the control unit. Disconnect all line cords and station cords. Plug just the one phone in, with a known good cord (a cat-5 patch cord will do). Does the phone light up properly, and pass the self test? If so, connect the lines and see if that works properly. Then try connecting the station cord that leads back to that phone's jack, and move the phone to its jack. Does it work there? Eliminate everything, then add one element at a time.

Thanks much Touchtone Tommy, I walked through the system as you suggested and was able to get the phone system up and running again............

I appreciate the help!
