I purchased the ASUS P4B533-VM motherbaord from a reseller. There is video as part of the motherboard -- but when I connected it to my monitor, I never had anything come up when I turned the PC on.

I sent the motherboard to ASUS - they said there wasn't a problem w/ it. I have a P4 2.4 chip in it w/ 512 of Memory. I cannot use it -- this is distressing.

When I turn the PC on, the green light comes on for the board, the CPU goes on and am connected w/ a 400 Watt Power Suppy. I can plug the monitor right back into my other PC and I have immediate display.

I cannot adjust BIOS on the MB because I cannot see anything. I would love to know how (what) ASUS ddi to determine the board was good. I did not send it w/ the CPU or RAM chip though.

Any ideas -- I have bounced the this off a few people that I work w/ but to no avail... [mad]

Hi,
if we assume that the MOBO works fine - then the On-Board video is disabled in the BIOS.

As it is on-board video the default setting will be to have it enabled. Therefore, reset the BIOS to factory default by clearing the CMOS (see your mobo manual).

Failing that, borrow a graphics card and boot up with that to get into the BIOS and change the video setting.

Please post back to let us know how you get on.

Regards. Running a PC without backups is like driving a car without a seatbealt. Your knack'ed when you crash!

i was not clear with this statement

am connected w/ a 400 Watt Power Suppy. I can plug the monitor right back into my other PC and I have immediate display.

have u connected the monitor to the power supply in the pc that u werenot not able get a display then there might be a problem in the powersupply outlet. try to switch on the power supply externally and switch on the system even then u did not get the display then
i would suggest u to do as Win98User said

The best way to check if the on board video is disabled is to clear the bios to default.

Just so we are on the same page...

#1 - I have tried both on board video and adding a video card to the one of the 3 PCI slots (top one).

#2 - I stated that I am using a 400W power supply just so that we understand there is enough power for the CPU and MOBO.

#3 - I am using the PC chassis w/ my old PII -- I wanted to swap out the PII for the P4.

#4 - The monitor works on both the Dell P4 and the PII that I have -- jsut so we know that the monitor is not the problem.

I will reset the BIOS and see where that leads me. Thanks,

~Steve~
