I have an ASUS A7N8X motherboard and I cannot get the sound to work on my speakers. I checked the manual and I cant seem to find any jumpers for the rear line out jacks. I am also trying to get the front audio panel to work as well. I have front audio wires that are labeled Ear-L, Ear-R, Mic Data and Mic Grd. Any idea where they get attached to on my motherboard. Sound is working fine in device manager and sound is not muted. Speakers are on and plugged in correctly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

fantomlord,

I don't think there are jumper for the onboard sound as this is enabled in BIOS.

Check in device mgr what driver is installed. Many times MS will load a driver of it's own & sometimes this is sufficient and sometimes not. You can get the latest ASUS driver for this board at their site if you indeed need it.

You can also get the manual (if you don't have one) and the FP sound bus is covered.

Also try to play an mp3 file & if this works but your CD/DVD does not. Insure that the sound cable is attached to the drive and to the Mobo.

fantomlord,
Make sure you have installed all the audio drivers from the Motherboard Utility CD. I am assuming that this is a new build? Have a look at the volume control, properties and add the line out and make sure it is not muted. Also, I don't believe this motherboard has front audio headers.

hey Mainegeek..this mobo does that front headers for audio.

First off ear l means headphone left. Otherwords output at the front. ear r means output right. left and right channels otherwords. mic grd is ground and mic data should be your mic input i believe.
