The responsibility of maintaining a Nortel CS1000 was recently bequeathed unto me, and I know next to nothing about phone systems.

I was asked to allow calls to extension 4956 to ring on extension 4902 if the person at extension 4956 does not answer. I interpreted this as a request for a hunt group. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I read some documentation, and what I have done is listed below. The hunt group works as expected if I call extension 2001, the pilot DN for the hunt group. How do I get it to work when someone calls extension 4956?

1. Find an unused extension. This extension will be used as the pilot DN for the new hunt group.

You wouldn't want a hunt group. Just set the FDN on 4596 to FDN to 4902. And ask for a raise. FDN= forward no answer

Thank you!

The value of FDN for most of our phones is 4224, which is the extension people use to access voice mail. If I change the value from 4224 to 4902, what happens when neither person answers an incoming call?

You need to program 4902 with CLS SFA for Second Level Call Forward No Answer.
If neither 4596 or 4902 answer then it will go to the mailbox for the dialed number (4596) assuming you have CallPilot.

I just tested your suggestions and the forwarding works as expected! You've both been very helpful. I really appreciate it.
