I have a customer with a door phone connected to a Viking RC-2A. The Viking is connected to an Analog extension port on the IP 500. We are working with the door phone vendor to create a voice path to the IPO, but can someone assist me with the short code to release the door? I have a shortcode set to dial extension 260 (analog extension) but it does not activate the door, only says incompatible.

doorphones usually open a speach path and hen the doorphone waits for a particulat DTMF tone to throw the lock. no short code needed. unless you are trying to use the relay ports on the IPO.

You will need dry port for the door to not interefere with the current system. I have used an emergency exit port on their equipment before.

With the RC2a, you will only need the extension port of the IPO. The Rc2a picks it up and then you will need to program the rc2a to output the proper info.

Thanks. We finally reached the vendor and he indicated he programmed the door phone as an intercom and all that is needed is an extension port, which we have. He indicated the RC-2A is not needed since the release is a dry contact that only needs DTMF. I think we are all set with the exception of the vendor set the call button to dial a number but didn't say what it is dialing. As soon as he changes it to an extension and programs it to dial another extension in the office I think we can get this working.

Use SSA to see what is is dialling. I always program them to ring a group number. then it will say "Door" or similar on the phone and you can easily change where the door rings on the IPO. You shouldn't need to reprogram the doorphone again

Jamie,

I tried using SSA to see what the door phone was dialing. Interestingly, it does not show up in SSA, yet the customer says he is hearing it dial and ring when he is standing at the door phone. It almost seems as if the door phone has a separate dial path, possibly wireless, since there is only a single pair wire running from the door phone to the RC-2A then on to the analog extension port on the IP Office. The door phone vendor is supposed to go back to the customer site next week.
