Hey Guys, how do I assign a file type to a specific software?

Thanx much,
Trudye

Right click on a file, select open with (choose program) and then find your program name like program.exe and select it. That file type from now on will use that program.

Thanx for repsonding. That's not exactly what I was asking, let me try again.
I want to assign "file types" not a single file. So in the future any time I open that "file type" the desired software is used.

Same thing, when you follow electronicsfreak's advice, all files of the type of the file you did it with will be assigned to open with that program.

Of course you could do it the hard way, From an explorer windows go into Tools->Folder Options, File Types, from the list find the extension of the file type you wish to change, and click on the "Change" button, next to where it says "Opens With". The you can choose a Program to open it with, or Browse your drive to find the executable if its not in that list.
