Hi There,
I'm petty new to active directory users and computers. can I assign he email address of Itstaff@rj.com to two users so that when someone email to that email address those two users will received the email.
I hoped this is clear.

Thanks

You can either do this via a distribution (or mail enables security) group or you could also use a resource account and give the people you want rights to that mailbox.

I'd go with the distribution group unless you want the users to be able to keep the mail seperate from thier own. Using a resource account, Oultlook can be configured to open the mailbox when Outlook starts.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

Mark - What is a resource account? Exactly how can I create one of these within AD?

Hi All,

I decided to create a distributed group.

Thanks for your help.

A resource account is basically a user account that isn't really assigned to a particular user. You set up the security to allow groups to have access to it.

This is very typically used for conference room schedules and general mailboxes.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

But I thought in Outlook 2003 you cant have more than one Exchange account open in it?

Is it possible, I just dont know how to do it?

OK, create a group called "Sales account managers". Add your relevant staff to that group.
Create the resource account Sales.
Log in as Sales. Set permissions on mailbox and Inbox as "Sales account managers" as owner.

Logout.

In each Outlook for the relevant staff, Tools, options, change, properties, advanced, Add, Sales. This will add sales to Outlook as an additional resource. They can send as themselves though.

In AD, Exchange Advanced for Sales, add Sales Account Managers as Send As permission. Then when they reply, they can reply "as" Sales.
