Anyone know of a way to assign drive letters at install, preferably as part of an unattended installation.

I've got a scripted install that drops a SP 4 slipstreamed install of Win2k Pro onto the target machine, then slices the disk into a a 4gb O/S and 6gb APPS partitions.

What I would like is for the APPS patition to be assigned to drive letter D:\ and for the CD-ROM to be assigned to drive letter R:
Any ideas?

right click on My Computer> manage >Disk managment
Right click on CD drive > Change driver Letter and Path ...> edit
Same way for the Drive D:

Yeah, I know how assign drive letters manually. What I'm after is way of taking care of the task AUTOMATICALLY as part of an unattended install

Ok, you can create temporary virtual driver, just for installation .
subst drive1: drive2:\path

OK, sounds promising. Could you elaborate a little further? Is this something that I include in my answer file, and if so which section?

Can you give me an example of how this works?

Thanks for your comments so far.

Wait a sec, subst??? Isn't that a command for assigning drive letters to folders within an existing partition? How's that going to help me mount logical and physical devices?
