Hello. Just wondering what you all use for asset management.

home grown software...SMS..other?

I am looking for a discovery type program that will tell me hardware specs, last user who logged on, software on machine etc.

I can probably right a vbscript to pull all this info and run it as a service then have it report to a db somewhere...but why reinvent the wheel. sounds time consuming.

Thanks.

I use Visual Aduit x3 from Visionsoft, its cheap and can be rolled out via login script. The big plus its easy to use!!

We used to use a combination of manual spreadsheets + SMS but are now using Peregrine's Asset Center (mostly because we also use their Service Center helpdesk product), it seems more hassle than it's worth so far though...

Peregrine....ouch!!!!!!!!! Awful system , and takes along time to get acustomed to.
