I am researching Asset Management Software. I have looked at LANsurveyor and a program called INVENTORY SOFTWARE-asset tracker for networks. I was hoping to find one that can auto-detect what you have on a network. The server environment is mixed. Most of our servers are Red Hat (though we have one BSD server). We also have three NetWare servers and two Windows servers (one 2000 and the other 2003). Most of our clients are Windows machines (though we have three Macintoshes).

Can anyone recommend an auto-detecting asset management system that would work with this environment?

what info do you require? Loads of software out there, you just gotta decide what you want to know.

Information on hardware, software. versions, the ability to print our charts and reports, audetection would be nice too.

You could look at blue streak track-it, GASP, visual audit pro, netoctopus...

See if you can find an industry body for anti software piracy in your area. They can usually suggest something that will meet your requirements!

Aida 32 for windows computers. You get it to run through a netlogon script, and it stores all the information in a database (access, mysql, oracle, etc.)

It recognises most software and hardware, license keys of microsoft products, and the dell computers have their tag number stored.
