Aspx files won't open. Using VWD.

I didn’t find a group for Visual Web Developer, but this is ASP related.

I have been using VWD for a week or so and all was going well. Then I received an error message, but now cannot get it to reappear. It went something like: “An error was encountered when loading the document….Will be skipped to avoid that error….” I don’t recall the whole message.

My issue is that my projects are showing files in the solution explorer, they just won’t open

After closing VWD and reopening, I can right click on a project file to open it and it seems like it will open, but no aspx or aspx.vb page appears for use. After trying to open a couple of current projects, VWD stops allowing any current projects to be opened. It just sits there. No action at all.

I did a reinstall/repair with no luck.

I can create a new web site and add items to an existing site. I can add a new page, I just can’t open it.

It acts like the VWD file for opening (loading) the project files is missing. I don’t have any technical proof, it just feels like it. In my recycle bin there are a number of “app_offline” files, but I’m thinking that this is garbage created by the VWD program.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Microsoft actually have their own forum for this product at - I'd sugest asking there as it definately sounds like an installation issue.

Also, have you considered a System Restore and see if that fixes any issues?

ca8msm,

Thanks.

i did post the same Q and it was on the site for a while, but now it's not. I don't know what's going on.

How do I do a system restore? What impact will this have on my system overall?

Thanks.
