In another thread someone suggested moving to PHP instead of ASP for a linx/Apache/mySQL server.
I can see the advantages of using PHP but don't know enough about it to know whether it is easy for someone to move from programming ASP to PHP. Anyone?
Also, what kind of tools are there? Currently I am using Macromedia UltraDev 4 which is fantastic and makes life sooo easy.
Until I am really confident I am going to stick with ASP. It has already been tough moving from IIS/Access to Apache/mySQl (nearly complete) but I am glad I have done it. I can see the benefits down the track.
I guess the same can be said for PHP compared to ASP but I would like to hear what others think.
