This is for DN 5704 I have found a link that tells me to go off hook ( dial tone ), FLASH ( silence ) dial *4 ( second dial tone ) then dial 9 and telephone number. I have done this several times and all I get is silence after I dial the number string, no confirmation tone just silence. I test the DN and it will not forward to the external number. I do have this working ok on the same ASM on another DN 5701 but that was programmed a year ago. Any suggestions?

I think I found a thread about this. It said that the feature for analog phone call forwarding was not documented properly. It said that after entering the number string an OK is required and that on a 7100 or 7208 the HOLD button is used as the OK button. Therefore this string is needed when programing:

FLASH/LINK [ * 4 9 XXX-XXX-XXXX ] FLASH/LINK [ * 2 ]

Does this look like this will work and what is missing?

Thanks

That looks right to me.
FYI 4.1 software or higher required.

Yes this software is 7.0. I'm just trying it out now and unfortunately I cannot get it to work. I can forward just fine to another directory number but I cannot forward to a destination code that is active or to an external telephone number using the above instructions. Redirect is active on this directory number. When I dial flash feature *4 and try to dial 9 I cannot break the dial tone

Well finally figured out this. Turns out that the HOLD / OK needs to be just FLASH 2 and not FLASH * 2. Also another very strange thing is that when entering the external number starting with 9 the dial tone will not stop ( very confusing ) however the system is actually recording the number and listening. When done entering the number after pressing FLASH 2 I heard a second confirmation dial tone.

After I programmed using these procedure it work just fin to externally forward via a DEST code and also an actual 10 digit number. When I dialed from a digital set I can see that the call is being forwarded by the display showing 2010>XXX-XXX-XXXX or DEST code 2010>5804.

Cancelling works as documented FLASH # 4 ( second dial tone heard as confirmation )

The previous thread mentioned nothing about this. Maybe this can be entered a s A FAQ?

Hope this helps someone in the future.
