I need to create an ascii fixed length file

I've managed to create the file but am told that it is unicode and they need ascii.

How do I get sQL2005 to use the ascii character set

I assume you were saving right from SQL Server Management Studio. If so...

When you right click your result set and click "Save Results As", you can select the type and give it a file name, but...

Take a close look at the save button. There is a little down arrow to the right of the word "Save".

When you click the down arrow, you get a menu with:

Save
Save With Encoding

Click "Save With Encoding"

For Available Encoding, pick ANSI.
