derfloh: Thank you, I will go through those documents you provided. I should mention I do have the SIP Trunk up and running on my IPO just without the SBC at the moment.
Curious, wouldn't it be the other way around, with the IPO Part being almost always the same as the IPO Registers to the ASBCE and the ASBCE part be provider specific as it registers with the SIP Trunk Provider?
Simply put the SBC rewrites and forwards the messages between IPO and SIP provider.
You could have the SBC handle registration which is done when the PBX can't do it, but in the IPOs case it's better to have all the in the IP Office so you see if the trunk goes down etc.
