Hello boys and girls,

I am having trouble keeping ASA connected, seems to disconnect every 10, 15 minutes if I don't use it. Connected via ip, and using the terminal emulator (4410).
From the connection properties - advanced, I have the Timeout(ms) set to 40000 and the Idle disconnect (secs) set to 0. Still it disconnects afetr approx. 10 minutes. Any ideas?

Hi BIS,

When you log into the PBX via ASA, you have to enter, (yours may be slightly diffrent)
PASSWORD <enter>
1>;IT0 <enter>
o.k
1>;ME, <enter>
o.k
Login:xxxxxxxxxx
Password:xxxxxxxxxx

The ;IT0 means that it shouldn't time out, you should stay connected. You may get the Login promt after some time though, for security reasons i guess. you can change it to say ;IT30 which means it will stay connected for 30 mins.

Hope this helps.

hmm, thats a good beginning. i normally set up ASA to log in automatically. when I try to set it to log in manually, i don't get these optioins.... any idea why?

The commands you mention only relate to logging in to the SAT through the tracker lever, you wouldnt enter any of those parameters when logging in via IP. I havent ever setup ASA to log in via IP so I cant help any further Im afraid. John

Hi BIS,

Seems to me this is just a normal time-out in ASA. You can alter this by opening (in ASA) the system properties of the PABX (right-click or ALT+enter). The select the connection, then select the properties the connection, there you can alter the time-out settings.

Cheers,

MKU
