I'm just writing to gripe...

ASA crashes all the frickin time now. Especially when changing Vectors.

what version?

I have the issue too using GEDI and ASA 5.0.11. 'cha vector x'. Enter a line, then go back to the begining of the same line and change the first word. ASA will crash.

Run a long command like 'list station'. After it starts press esc to stop the command and sometimes ASA will lock up and you'll have to Ctrl-Alt-Delete and kill the process.

I know that running commands like "list station" on a computer with dual core processors will cause it to freeze. I wonder if the same thing is true with vector programming now.

If you open task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and right click on the ASA process, then choose Set Affinity and uncheck one of the CPUs it definately will fix the "list station" freeze when you press ESC to stop the command. Might work for the vector issue.

Unfortunately you have to set this everytime you launch ASA.

There is a program that will fix this: imagecfg.exe

Google for it and download it. Then follow these instructions:

Copy imagecfg.exe to C:\

Navigate to directory with file you want to set affinity on

ie: cd \Program Files\Avaya\Site Administration\bin

Execute the following command:

c:\imagecfg -a 0x1 [executable file name]

ie: c:\imagecfg -a 0x1 asa.exe

Quoting only proves you know how to cut and paste.

Well son of a gun! Stinney, you're a genious!

Doesn't seem to work for ASA 5.2

C:\Program Files\Avaya\Site Administration\bin>imagecfg -a 0x1 asa.exe
IMAGECFG: unable to map and load asa.exe

C:\Program Files\Avaya\Site Administration\bin>

Make sure that's where the exe file is. Check the properties of your ASA shortcut, they might have changed the directory location.

The shortcut pointrs directly to "ASA.exe" in that directory, however, there are several other files that also start with ASA in that directory, looks like they split it up over several files. It's probably not going to work for ASA 5.2

shortcut:

"C:\Program Files\Avaya\Site Administration\bin"

It works fine with 5.2

Make sure to exit ASA before running imagecfg
