I posted this question in another thread that was discussing Intuity LX and ASA, but never got an answer...

We are installing today a new Intuity LX (don't know which version...). Will it or will it not work with ASA? I'm a little confused on this issue. If you only use the web interface, can you still import/export like with ASA?

ASA will only work with a dialup connection using the VM logon to do basic commands to mail box's ect. The network connection through ASA will not work unless port-23 is unblocked on the LX. Inputting the LX's IP address in the URL box works pretty good also.

My problem has been that even though I can gain access as described by cduff

I cannot get the automatic log-in to work, therefore the ASA import/export will not work. I have given very negative feedback to Avaya without a response

Import and Export does not work with ASA. Only provision does.....very annoying as I have now migrated 4 lx and have to do manual typing.
If you want to connect through the web browser, you need Avaya to download a patch to get it working.

Well, this is not what I wanted to hear. I have gotten very used to importing a list of new VM boxes when we open a new facility. Does Avaya still sell the non-LX version of Intuity Audix? I'm also going to say emphatically "no way" to our Avaya rep when she wants to upgrade our 5 existing Audix's to Intuity LX!

People keep saying that you can login to port 23...this isnt true on my LX. My LX doesnt even respond on port 23 when I try to telnet to it.

Does this feature come after an upgrade/patch?

Btw, I installed my LX in June, there are patches for it, Avaya sent me a CD and they have to send someone out to install it.

You can tell your avaya rep to use PROVISION and upload and download the data free of charge or no sale......I am sure they will find a way to do it for you.

I use ASA with my Intuity LX through the network on port 23. As stated above by CDuff, to use auto login, you have to use the VM login. Every monday morning, my pc exports all subscribers from Intuity and saves to a database without any interaction on my part.

AvayaDude,

So if I have Avaya open up port 23, ASA should work, including import and export?

bump....does anyone know how to open port 23 on the LX.
I'm having this issue as well where I can't connect to the LX with ASA. the web interface is OK but I can't export any data.

I just purchased an LX for a remote site and am also unsatisfied with the Remote access via ASA. Fortunately I discovered the port 23 issue before leaving the site and got on a conference call with the business partner and Avaya. Avaya did not want to turn on the port. We were told such things as, "we can turn it on but it will void your warranty". My reply was, "if you don't turn it on and if you want to void the warranty, you may come here right now and box this system up and take it back to CO where it came from". They turned on the port. Then after I left the site, Avaya went back in and removed my craft login and password, and possibly closed the port. I am giving them until Friday to clear everything up or we are forced to not accept the item.

Update:

I just had Avaya come out and open up port 23 on the LX system. I can now use ASA to administer the Intuity LX. They didn't mention anything about "voiding the warranty"- we simply asked them to do it and they did it. Just did an export of all the VM boxes and it worked great.

We have one other Intuity LX box in our corporation and I'm going to have Avaya "fix" that one too. Thanks for everyone's input.

Dose anyone know what the command is to open up port-23? I have the craft login for our LX.

There is no Command you can use to open port 23. Avaya has to do it. I also had the craft password when I was trying to open it.

Also, I am able to use the SA login and password but only on the WEB. Good Luck.
