AS400 TCP/IP Printing

We are running 4.5 and have been experiencing printing problems. We had a lengthy report printing on an HP printer. This printer is setup as a remote outq. The paper ran out. Later that evening an IPL was run and once completed, and the paper filled, the report started over at the beginning. Any ideas on settings which will avoid this in the future?

u can restart the wtr from the desired page position.
flow is (1)stop wtr(2)change attribute (3)restart wtr.
let's look the outq by wrkoutq command.
u may find out ur spool file.
u must at first stop the wtr by option3. sts will be hld.
enter option2 and continuously press the cmd-4(help).
at the displayed screen,press cmd-11.
then keyword will apear.
u can enter the restart page at the keyword of RESTART.
finally,u must release the spool file by opt 6.

The problem is that is the writer is started, but, the paper has run out. As soon as we fill it, it begins running from the beginning since we have IPL'd and unfortunately, they are invoices without page numbers. There is no way to tell what page it is on. I am hoping someone will have a technical solution for this, such as a PTF or a setting. Note, we are using TCP/IP printing.

i think usually when papers are gone,
printer devices detect the status and send info to the host.

Remote OUTQ has no page range support, so this is probably the expected action. To be fair, the situation would be the same on any device which ran out of paper and had unprinted entries either side of an IPL.

If you need to use pagerange support, change from remote outq to PJL or SNMP printing, which will allow this. However, if you don't know which page number to start at, this will also be difficult to implement. The port number for HP printer for both PJL and SNMP printing is 9100.
