What do I need to configure to allow my remote (WAN)connections access to my AS400?
Here's a quick overview of my network:
remote sites - 172.16.xxx.0/24
LAN - 10.1.0.0/16
LAN Router - 10.1.1.254/16
AS400 - 10.1.50.1/16

Here's the scenerio:
From 172.16.xxx.0/24 I can access everyting on 10.1.0.0/16 except 10.1.50.1
From 10.1.0.0/16 I can access everything on 172.16.xxx.0/24
From 10.1.0.0/16 I can access 10.1.50.1

The configuration of my router looks fine and was double checked. the router is using OSPF, RIP is not enabled. I don't know much about the AS/400, but it looks to me like something (protocol) needs to be enabld on the AS/400 more so than the on the router.

Also where is a good resource to learn AS400 administration?

The easy way is to set a route in the AS/400 to the 172. network. It is more than likely that the 172 network can get to the 400, but the 400 can't find a way back.

Thanks that worked perfetly.

Your question about the AS400 admin,, what is the AS400 used for in your organization. If it is, or will be used for in the financial reporting, support. I would say Yes..
