AS11 - how to work with remote sql agent?

Hi there,

My AS11 backup server running on w2k server, with sql agent. The sql agent working fine for my backup on this w2k server.

Now got new w2k3 server installed in same domain, with AS11 win agent & sql agent. Win agent working fine for my backup of c:\, but sql agent not working fine. Backup log shown
E8604 Failed to start backup. (DBNAME=dbasql@MSSQLSERVER, EC=Windows Error 1326: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.)

I'm using domain admin for security settings of agent.
As win agent work fine, I don't know why the same username/password not working fine for sql agent.

Wondering how to solve this problem?

SQL is not my thing but my guess is the wrong user was used.

My advice is to carefully read the manual. Even guys like me can get SQL backups and restore working after reading the manual.

Yes, David is right. 1326 is to do with permissions.
Make sure Arcserve System Account is a member of
following groups:
administrators, domain admins and backup operators. Domain admins must be the primary group. also it is advised to have this user member of local administrators group and backup operators group on ur remote sql machine.

Also give the following rights
logon locally, logon as a service, act as a part of os.

Hi there,

I already use domain administrator account for the startup of as11 agents on the remote sql server, use domain administrator account for the startup of sql services on the remote sql server, but stilll the same, AS11 cannot backup the remote sql server, however it can backup c:\ on the remote sql server.

I asked CA for help they just throw me TEC276601, which I read through & follow the steps still didn't help, I still got E8604 & windows error 1326.

What should I do to fix it??? Million thanks!

Just asked to ca support...

Try **logon locally* on the server with the user used in the job tho access the remote machine (i.e. domain\goofy, try lo logon with the goofy user) in order to re-submit (and save) the job.

You can try to backup (just for test) the db via network, not using the client agent.
