AS server registration with (W2K server & SP3)

Dear Listers,

On two occasions now we have installed (AS 2000 and SP3) on a server running (Windosw 2000 server and SP3) and have been unable to register the server within the Analysis Manager. The following message is displayed :

Error: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed etc.

However, when we installed (AS 2000 and SP3) on a server running (Windosw 2000 server and SP2 or SP4) there are no registration issues.

Is this a bug and/or has anybody experienced like issues?

What MDAC version are you running? May need to upgrade to 2.8 if possible.

JK, we're currently running MDAC 2.7 (default install with AS SP3) .... however does MDAC 2.8 guarantee a resolution?

I am not 100% sure ... I have it installed on several of my AS server and have had no issues.
