I'm using the CLRPFM command in a CL program on some files and was wondering if I needed to do a reorg on each file since the CLRPFM command removes deleted files.

CLRPFM does not delete the files only records within the file. DLTF is the one that delete file(s). REORG should only be done by the administrator once in a while because this is run dedicated and can be very time consuming.

I'm sorry, I meant delete the records in the file not delete the files.

ok,,, first things first,,,,CLRPFM,,, The above command "clears" ,,, ie removes every record in existence, that is in the file, and or file member. It stands for clear physical file member.

To answer the original question:

After a CLRPFM, there are no deleted records in a file (that is, there are no records, deleted or otherwise), therefore, a reorganize is not necessary.

Feles mala! Cur cista non uteris? Stramentum novum in ea posui!
