Hi,

I am very new to Mainframe. Can someone please help, what is differance between as/400 and OS/400.

Is os400 is better then os/390.

Thanks,

...between OS/400 and iSeries (AS/400)? They are the same thing... pretty much OS/400 runs on the AS/400.

Now bewteen the OS390 and OS400, I couldn't really tell you the difference. Mike Wills

AS/400 = the server (Advanced System / 400)

OS/400 = the operating system

The newer AS/400's are part of the 'x'Series servers. they are pretty much still AS/400's, but more choices with operating systems (OS/400, Linux, etc).

OS/400 is the operating system that runs on an As/400.

Acctually the AS/400 is an 'i' Series server which stands for integrated.

I think many people find os/400 easier to manage.

Where Can i learn more about os/400 except IBM website.

Thanks,
