Excuse my ignorance, but I don't have alot of experience with archiving...

If users are archiving there email in Outlook 2007, are those emails deleted from the server and just stored on the workstation in the path selected in the settings.

the reason I'm asking is these workstation folders are not currently backed up.

Thanks, Jeff

Yes. They're stuck in <gasp> .pst files. And, as mentioned here many times, .pst files are evil for MANY reasons. And the Outlook archiving feature is more consumer oriented than enterprise oriented.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

Yup,

The mail has moved from managed storage on the Exchange Server to unmanaged storage in pst files spread across your entire organization.
