I was wondering if someone could go over the process of applying artic silver. I have used other thermal pastes and products but I dont feel nearly as safe when the instructions provided on the site seem to contradict themselves. If someone could just go over the process ( where to apply, how thick, what to look for before im done ) and any other precautions i'd appreciate it :)

wot i did was this:

1. Removed any existing pad/thermal paste that was on my cpu core and from heat sink. use an alcohol based cleaner and lint free cloth. This bit is important as arctic silver is different from other pastes.
2. Apply a v.small (i do mean v.small) amount of arctic silver paste onto the underside of the heatsink (where contact is made with the cpu core). Rub this into the contact surface (this fills all of the micro fissures and tiny holes in ur heatsink). Actually I followed the recommendation here and rubbed the stuff in with my finger in a plastic bag. Once this is done wipe the surface clean of all residue.
3. Apply a miniscule (absolutely miniscule) amount of paste to the cpu core and spread evenly over it.
4. Attach Heat sink to cpu

hey presto

have fun :)
