ARS quick question 1

Is it safe to allow 18xx976 (xx being a toll npa 88,55, etc) in an ARS table? I have 1xxx976 blocked but customer needs to dial 855976

I'd maybe just exact match 1-855-976 or the whole number.
876-976-1234 could be $2.99 a minute for my Jamaican psychic hotline.

So I get confused on the xxx part. the table had
1855 to a route patten, but then 1xxx976 as a deny. so the number was denied.
would i leave the deny as is and add 1855976 pointing to a route pattern. I dont get the override Uggg!

ARS picks the most exact match. That said, I've only tried that without x's as wildcards. Like 1855976 is more exact than 1855. I'd reckon that 1855976 is more exact than 1xxx976.
The basis of all that is NXX 976 was traditionally reserved for pay per minute calls like 1-976. There's countries in the North American number plan that use area codes. So, you call Jamaica as 1-876 and probably not with a 011 leading.

Good old fashioned scam is to get people to call a foreign country as a 900 type call, hence why it's blocked by default in ARS.

I got it. I did a deny for 1xxx976 and set a route pattern for all the toll free's ex: 1800976 and tested route chosen. Worked like a charm! thanks! Karen
