I am doing some ARS cleanup as I change routes to use a new trunk. Ten years ago the area code for this switch was 601. The previous admin never changed any of the settings when the area code changed to 662 (i.e. the trunks still had NPA = 601, and "change locations" still had 601).
The new trunk is using NPA = 200 because the service wants all ten digits regardless of destination. I did a "change locations" and changed the NPA to 662 (there is only 1 location).
Everything seems fine except:
If I have the ARS entry:
160 11 11 p9 fnpa
and I do a li ars route 1601, it tells me I need to enter more digits to determine a unique route. If I enter a complete number, it tells me no route exists for that string.
I have to add the following ARS entry in order to call the 601 area.
1601xxxxxxx 11 11 p9 fnpa
My question is why do I need to make such a specific route for 601? Am I overlooking some other setting that may still have 601 as the NPA?
NOTE: Any other 160x (1602,1603, etc) will select the 160 route
