ARS help needed.

I first off would like to say thanks for all the nice tips here (complete newbie here to phone systems).

To the problem, I am having to cover for our local telephony guy this week while he is out of the country, but, I need to now how to add a number into the ARS so that we can dial that number. Currently when it is dialed we get a "fast busy" or "you must dial a 1 or 0 to dial this number error". Eventhough it is a local call. I am able to dial the number from my cell.

I am completly unfamiliar with how to do this and would like a little help. I am currently using ASA to gain access to put the info in, just not sure what or how to do it.

You can use the "change ars digit-conversion" form to manipulate what is dialed to add or remove digits. Just make sure that the Route Pattern that you send it to doesn't strip it back off using the Prefix Mark.

"0" - Suppress a user-dialed prefix digit 1 for 10-digit FNPA calls. Leave a user-dialed prefix digit 1 for 7-digit HNPA calls. Leave a prefix digit 1 on 10-digit calls that are not FNPA or HNPA calls. Do not use Prefix Mark 0 in those areas where all long-distance calls must be dialed as 1+10 digits. Check with your local network provider.

"1" - Send a 1 on 10-digit calls, but not on 7-digit calls. Use Prefix Mark 1 for HNPA calls that require a 1 to indicate long-distance calls.

"2" - Send a 1 on all 10-digit and 7-digit long-distance calls. Prefix Mark 2 refers to a Toll Table to define long distance codes.

"3" - Send a 1 on all long-distance calls and keep or insert the NPA (area code) so that all long distance calls are 10-digit calls. The NPA is inserted when a user dials a Prefix digit 1 plus 7-digits. Prefix Mark 3 refers to a Toll Table to define long distance codes.

"4" - Always suppress a user-dialed Prefix digit 1. Use Prefix Mark 4, for example, when ISDN calls route to a media server or a switch that rejects calls with a prefix digit 1

In your area do you have to 10 digit dial local or can you still 7 digit dial for local calls?

X is the first digit of the local 7 digit number you are trying to dial.

Can you provide the first 3 digits of this number as well?

the prefix for the number is 871, but I can dial other 871-xxxx without any problems.

Looks like you shouldn't have any issues. What if you do the command:

disp ars digit-conversion 8

Are there any listings for any 871 numbers?

Thanks for all the Help. The error was with the Carrier and was in an outdated routing table. Once they fixed that the issue was resolved.
