Noobie question, can I use these Compaq Smart Array 221 on my Dell? or any home build pc?

cant see any reason why not
at end of day it's a standard pci card
as long as you have the drivers for it as obviously non compaq stuff will probably not pick it up

so go for it

Bah, it didnt work. The raid card itself needs a partiy check. So no go.

Did you use the compaq line terminators? Compaqs like a special termination block.
