Dear All,

Wonder if anyone can help me on this. I am seeing a lot of ARP requests going across the network at the moment. I am pushing out IP addresses using DHCP and enforcing WINS but wins queries only no broadcasts to resolve addresses. I used to on Win98 populate the arp tables automatically on the client Pc's but on win2k you cannot do this unless you are logged on as an administrator. Does anyone know any way around this ?

Is there an acceptable amount of Arp's that should show up on Sniffer ?

In a switched environment, you will see almost exclusively broadcasts. Most of the broadcasts will be ARPs. This is normal.

I don't look at the percent of broadcasts, I look at the absolute number of broadcasts per second. Each has to be processed by every workstation and server on the network.

FWIW, I don't start to worry until broadcasts / sec is above 50.
