Area Codes 1

Hello All,
I have a Avaya Definity and have a question for you; if new area codes are added in your area do you have to add them to the dialing plan in order to place a call to them? If so, could you tell me command to add them and how to display them? I would greatly apprecitate it.

In most cases you wouldnt have to add a new area code. if you have say 141 in your ars table, that covers all area codes 1410 to 1419.

If the new area code does not need to have a "1" before it when dialed, do a "disp ars ana (existing local area code)" and use what you see in that entry as a template for "ch ars ana (new local area code)" I'm assuming that now you are doing 10 digit dialing for local calls. If you are doing 7 digit dialing it will probably be trickier.

enter "list ars analysis" and check your dial strings for your new area code there if its not there you would just enter "change ars analysis (1+new area code)", and duplicate the Route Pattern Number, the Call Type and Min and Max. thats about it for adding a new area code.
