Greetings,

Avaya IP Office Manager v8x

An employee recently left our company. There are new messages in his voicemail box.
The plan was to have a current employee take over his extension.
A supervisor was going to listen to the new voicemail so I changed the password.
Before the supervisor listened to the voicemail, I changed the Name and Full Name fields to reflect the current employee who will be taking over the extension.
Now, when going into voicemail, the system prompts to change the password and walk you through setting up voicemail. So it must think its a new user.

Was the voicemail box deleted when I changed the Name and Full Name fields? Is the voicemail box still there and is there a way to retrieve the messages? I changed the Name and Full Name fields back to the original user and get the same result. The system wants to set up voicemail.

Thanks!

yes- as soon as you change the name field it creates a new mailbox

go into the accounts folder from voicemail path, it may still be a folder with the former employees name, you may be able to retrive them this way.

In voicemail pro, my experience is that if you change a name, the account folder will get renamed, but all messages are still present. Sounds like that is not what happened. Did you possibly delete the user and then recreate? If so they are gone.

Even Embedded the voicemail eventually gets renamed too..... takes a few minutes sometimes on both pro, and embedded.
