CM2.1 (still).

Our system was set up with routes for each location called "known bad" numbers. They are only available to the highest FRL. There is also a set of prefixes that are always denied.

I took an online basic config course that included this concept and had a list of prefiex that should be denied.

I am wondering if there are standard lists and if they vary at all between states and countries? I am in the USA and Canada is the country I am working on now. If there are standard lists where are they?

Thanks rgtrgt,

809 is one of the area codes restricted to FRL 7. We also have 649, 664, 441, 340, and a lot more. Then we have denys on xxx555, xxx976, 939, 900555, and more.

I am wondering where these lists come from? It would seem like it would be important to know for tracking any changes. I also need to know about any differences there might be for my first Canada site.

the list are just known from talking with others. i'm sure if you googled toll fraud area codes you'll find some

So since Canada is not dialed as an international call can I assume the same list would apply to them?

will get you to a place where you can research where you may wish to deny routing. Generally speaking, anything 1+ that is outside the US is deniable, along with the standards in table 7 in Magix/Legend you should be okay. Lots of fraud for Caribbean Islands, Africa and eastern Europe, but that should be minimalized using the above guidelines.

Thanks 392,

I just found the Avaya Toll Fraud and Security Handbook. It is a little dated (June 2005), but it lists the ones you did and explains the concept .

Thanks again
