We have a Meridian, I have no experience on it. as of Last night we are not able to receive inbound or outbound calls. But from within the office we can call any extension. While I'm waiting for telco to call me back, what commands can I use to check the conditions of the ISDN T1 ?

Thanks, Tony

Login to Option 11

Go to LD 60

To Disable a loop:
Type DISL x where x is the number of the loop you want to disable.

To enable a loop:
Type ENLL x where x is the number of the loop you want to enable.

To Disable an individual channel:
Type DSCH x yy where x is the loop number and yy is the channel number.

To enable an individual channel:
Type ENCH x yy where x is the loop number and yy is the channel number.

**A loop is the same as a T1**

My old passwords don't work, do you or does anyone know how to hack into this console & get the password? Weve been down 5hrs & I can't spend $600 on a svc call....

I found the password under the keyboard,
I got in and did:
LD 60
stat

It showed loop 2 - DSBL
loop 4 - ENBL
ALARM RED
Channels 1 thru 23 say DSBL DID
Channel 24 shows DCH 6

Whats up & would anyone guess that this might be a telco issue? a sincere thanks!

Your best bet would be to open a trouble ticket with telco to verify your spans are good . I don't know if it is a telco provided CSU or customer but if they can loop your CSU it is more than likly a problem with your system. Did you try to enable loop 2 ? or at least the channels that it says are down . Do you know where your CSU is located ? If so you can look at the LEDS to see if the T1 is in alarm . If it is you will see a red or yellow lite on the OOF ,LOS ,SES ,ES (OOF means out of frame ,LOS is Loss of Signal , SES is severe error seconds , and ES is Error seconds. If you have a T-bird you can plug into the CSU and Monitor the Span to see if you can pull dial tone direct from telco.
But again your best bet is to call your local provider (whoever you pay your bill to for the T1) and let them trouble shoot it if you don't know to much about T1's .
I hope that helps.

Also, in LD 60, at REQ type LCNT. This will list the error counters for all your digital circuits (or just LCNT 4 for loop 4). You can also go into LD 96 and at REQ type STAT DCH, to get status on all your D-channels, or STAT DCH 6. It sounds like the PRI circuit on loop 4 went down overnight.

Thanks a bunch mmazza & freddog. This helps A LOT
Thank you VERY MUCH !!!

Well,
I did ld 60 then DSCH 4 26
then ENCH on the channel, then tried re-enabling the loop4.
Telco says I have a d channel out of service, what else can I try? How do I get to main menu to shut down the system & restart?

A Sincere THAnks! (been here 14 hrs)

I know this is kinda of gutsy to do but My company has had problems like this before and despite all our trouble shooting we found out or Option 11 was so Old and so far behind REV. that our only option was to move to an Option 11 Mini . But to fix our troubles we had we would have to do a hard shut down . Literly power the unit off and Pray it came back up . For you It might be in your best interest to call a certified Nortel tech to trouble shoot it .
depending on what area of the country your in I know of a few good shops with Nortel super techs that could help.

Thanks, but before i call Nortel, my boss wants me to try & fix. Telco got into their isdn sw & they tell me my d channel (24)is out of service.
When I do DD 60 on loop 4 (our circuit)
I see:
LCNT 4
PRI LOOP 4
BPV-018
SLIPD-003
SLIPR-000
CRC-000
LOSFA-235
OS_BPV-000
OS_LOSFA-003
OS_YEL-000

Do you know if I pop out the ANLG card & reseat it if it might fix the channels? I already did an DSCH & ENCH on the channels & loop. Any thoughts on the reseating of the ANLG card?

Looking at your errors on loop 4, I'd say your telco was full of poop. Here's what to try with the D-channel, however. In LD 60, disable your B channels on loop 4 (if not already showing disabled). Then go into LD 96, disable your D channel (DIS DCH 6), wait 10 secs, then enable it(ENL DCH 6). Then to back to LD 60 and enable your B channels. Clear your error counters using RCNT, to clear all counters, or RCNT 4, in LD 60 also. If that doesn't work, repeat the previous procedure but before enabling the D and B channels, reseat your PRI card and check the cable connections to it. Once everything is enabled, clear your counters again. If this doesn't work, check your error counters for loop 4, call your carrier, and tell them that you reseated the card, reset the D-channel, etc and you're still showing the same errors-- bipolor violations and frame slips. If you have a red light on your PRI card, tell them you have a CGA RED alarm as well.

Thanks for the tips freddog, I followed your steps.
We wound up cold rebooting the 11c mini & amazingly everything came up clean, no more CGA red alarms & counters
are clean. Weve got inbound & outbound calls. Its been up for an hour now, so far so good. Wonder why reseating the
PRI card didn't do it ??? I'm baffled. I hated to gamble like that....

I run into the same kinda problem . And the only thing that we could get to work was just a hard shut down . And then pray like h*ll it all came back up working . (thats longest boot up in history) when your waiting to see if you totally screwed or fixed huh..
Sorry non of the other sugestions worked for you . Hopefully you won't have this happen again.

I have noticed our problems happens when our T1 goes out because of a Telco related problem and then the Option11 just doesn't see them as fixed till you do a shut down .

If you don't mind can I ask you how you like the Option 11 mini ? We are swaping out our Option 11c this weekend for an Option 11 mini .
I like the look of it and it seems to be the perfect fit for out company . Just thought you could give me a little feed back on it .

No major problems with it, this is the first time I had to cold boot it & I'm impressed that it all came up, everyones voice mail worked, etc. (took about 15 min for everything to come up). That saved us big bucks on a service call. My company let the maint contract expire & won't renew. I'd have to say its been pretty maint free. I think were going out of business soon. I'm seriously thinking about getting some education on this thing, I'm already Cisco certified & might help w/ future employment opportunities.

Sorry to hear you might be going out of business . Cisco certification is a strong thing to have but being Nortel certified is like gold . I aint sure about now but not to long ago Nortel was the most used Key system and PBX in use . I know at our company alone I have to maint. a very wide range of nortel systems from small 3x8 key systems to Option 11c and soon a Mini. I am just learning the PBX part of it I am more specialized in the Key systems .

That is very true "mazza". Its is so true its funny, waiting for the system to bootup. waiting n preying that u did not crew up anything. The worst thing is that it seems to take for ever ans at the same time u think you are hearing footsteps coming towards you u think its your boss. Good one, lol.
