Hello,

We are using an old version Arcserve 9 of the tool on a Linux server, with an Ingres database.

The system was running for 11 months when we get a problem.

When I launch the console, It did not provide us with the domain name and finally I get an error : "Unable to get domain name, please check discovery service on".

I have checked the discovery.cfg file, which is correct with a DOMAIN and a PRIMARY fields registered.

When I give a look in /opt/CA/ARCserve/logs/BrightStor.log, I can see :

E9004 Failed to connect to agent on [pc.ql1 with IP address]
[connection refused] IS the agent loaded and the TCP port correct ?
E1048 Failed to create job record of job 148689 in cadbd, 2

After having successfully started the database. It displays the domain name, but when i try to connect, it didn't accept the correct credentials username and password (even caroot doesn't work). It gives me "Invalid username or password ...".

Thanks for your help,

Phil.

The Ingres database that comes with ARCserve for Linux is not known for it's stability, especially when it comes to storing large amounts of records. If your network settings did not change prior to the errors you receive check the CA Techdocs on database finetuning and troubleshooting.

Thanks for your answer.

But how can you affirm that the problem liaise with ingres database ?

"infodb cadbase" and "sql cadbase" are working.

My problem is also that Arcserve v9 is no more supported.
It's difficult to get pieces of informations when the tool is not maintained anymore.

I can't upgrade it to a newer version.
We will remove it soon, but we need to record at least 10 tapes.

Thanks in advance,

Phil.
