I’ve set up a test server with Netware 6.5 Evaluation version for checking out Arcserve 9 and thought I’d share a couple of problems I’ve had.
Installation was fine. Did the usual manual extend schema and create the queue and queue user with the asutil.nlm. Then give full rights bar Supervisor and Access Control to AS_BACKUP_SERVER object to the ARCSERVE folder object.
After typing ASTART at the server console I received an error message regarding unable to find Modules560. This being reference to an entry in the PFC.ini file, where Arcserve references server nlms;
[MODULES560]
MODULE1=UNICODE.NLM 5.05f
MODULE2=TIMESYNC.NLM 6.00g
MODULE3=DS.NLM 86.00l
MODULE4=STREAMS.NLM 4.20i
MODULE5=CLIB.NLM 5.90c
MODULE6=TLI.NLM 4.30b
MODULE7=SPXS.NLM 5.14
MODULE8=SMDR.NLM 6.00
MODULE9=DSAPI.NLM 5.05f
MODULE10=TSANDS.NLM 86.00
MODULE11=TSA600.NLM 6.00
MODULE12=NWSNUT.NLM 6.01
MODULE13=BTRIEVE.NLM 7.90
MODULE14=THREADS.NLM 5.90c
MODULE15=REQUESTR.NLM 5.90c
MODULE16=NLMLIB.NLM 5.90c
MODULE17=IPXS.NLM 4.10a
MODULE18=LOCNLM32.NLM 5.05f
MODULE19=CLNNLM32.NLM 5.05f
MODULE20=NCPNLM32.NLM 5.05f
MODULE21=NETNLM32.NLM 5.05f
The three lines I've tabbed across:-
Clearly the 8’s are typo’s so remove them.
In Netware 6.5 TSA600.NLM has been renamed to TSAFS.NLM at version 6.50. - so rename this here.
Also, TSANDS.nlm is now at version 1.23
After making these changes, I got the error saying it couldn’t find MODULES570 !
So, I copied the above into a new section (within PFC.ini) called [MODULES570], (along with the appropriate empty [EXCLUDE570] section.)
Make these alterations and Arcserve9 should start without complaining. Worked for me!
