Unfortunately there is not a good refernce manual published by CA itself however I have seen other publications at some larger bookstores for teh Arcserve 6.x series. I'd recommend looking there first.
As a side note, is there something in particular you need help with? Possibly one of the members of the forum can help you out then.
I cant seem to get a complete backup including the network, IS and a Brick layer all in one session. If I break up the run and do network backup one tape and the IS and Brick Layer on a different run, it will be successful. When I try to put it all together, there seems to always be a snag in reading the exchange server. I have loaded all the patches, am running W2k server, Exchange 2000 both with SP2 patches and Arcserve 2000 with the SP2 patch as well as the Exchange Backup Agent latest patches. Get errors 8602; 8604 and some unknown errors there doesnt seem to be any documentation on that are 8552; 8553 and 8563. Very finicky software. Latest problem I have encountered is that after the session runs, it seems to hang at the very end and not eject the tape. It says the backup is active but its just sitting there. When I try to stop the session, it wont stop. I have to reboot the server which puts the session on hold and then I can reschedule it. Any ideas how to get this tweaked?
I have been experiencing the same problem with my Exchange backup for the last several weeks. The ArcServe tech I was working with moved my issue up to the next level of tech support. But, I haven't made any progress yet.
One day last week, I was able to get everything to work (magically) by changing:
Start>Settings>Control Panel>Services>Backup Agent RPC Server
Click Startup and change to Automatic and check "System Account". One time I checked "Allow Service to Interact with Desktop" and the next time I didn't. It worked fine for two days, then nothing.
I know that doesn't seem like a good answer, but that's the best one I have.
