ARCSERVE2000, SP3 on Win NT4 server SP6a
after finally figuring out why dbcheck wouldn't work, i put the correct syntax in and i ran it. it worked on one server, but another clients' server throws this "failed to start consistency check for database - error 39" when running dbcheck -a -L arcserve;admin;secret astpsdat

assuming this to be database corruption, i ran the same command only using "dbfix" this time and it found no errors. trying the dbcheck, only returned the same results.

i also deleted 3 index files in the database directory - rdm.chk, rdm.chi and some type of *.000000000 - per a tech article, suggesting it could be the cause of corruption. didn't do anything to stop this.

any suggestions or ideas as to what the consistency check error might be?

thanks in advance.

i thought that blew it away. at least that's how it was in 6.61.

no, i haven't, but i will. at this point, i'd rather have a working database than a suspect one.

Initialising will blow it away, but then you can remerge information from old tapes into the new one as needed :) It's up to you.
