I have upgraded to v7 build 1100, which is supposed (?) to support Exchange 2000. Arcserve is installed on a win2000dc, running exchange 2000. It was installed with its own(appropriately privileged) account. A DBAgent account has also been setup. All (I believe) in accordance with the docs.
In the backup panel I can see the server, but cannot see the information store, furthermore I cannot browse the exchange organisation. I can see indiviual mailboxes on the brick level backup.

I have seen similar unanswered questions on the CA web site.

Anybody have any ideas?

Hi Alan,

You're experiencing exactly the same problem as myself. No matter how I configure the agent it will show as:

Cannot configure SYSTEM account
Cannot read registry
Cannot get exchange server name from registry

I'll keep you posted if I get any joy.

Cheers
A.

This is the output of the debug log.....not exactly helpful and all the more worrying when it goes on about exchange4.0.

Solution was relatively simple.

Install SP4 onto the Arcserve server and also install the same package onto any servers running agents.

Just when I thought it was going to work! SP4 resolved the agent config and now the backup job cannot send or receive data. I've now filed a request with CAI for support.

To my understanding build 1100 is SP4, which I have installed. I still have not found a solution to this so am interested in your progress. I was interested in your comment that SP4 seemed to fix this problem. My understanding is that SP4 is a prereq for Exchange 2000 support.

This is getting very frustrating. I've even built a new backup server and redeployed the agents. My first attempts at least allowed me to backup at bricklevel, now that doesn't work correctly. I'm becoming suspicious that there is an issue with exchange sp3. However, I can find very little support documentation and I find it curious that someone else is experiencing the same issue.

At the moment I'm using ntbackup to backup to disk.

I'm going to price up backup exec!
